Loading Zephyr data into Amadeus * New format *

When also company overview(s) is/are desired, after creating a deal set from Zephyr, it is possible to retrieve these data from Amadeus. Although it demands some steps.

This blog thread describes how it is done in the New Amadeus format.
After exporting the Zephyr search (i.e. a deal list) to a dedicated directory:

1. Open Excel
2. Load the export file
3. Look up the BvDep identifiers that were retrieved from the format change option in Xephyr, Targets or Acquirors.
Identifiers like ISIN and Ticker symbol won't work.
4. Remove empty cells by using the autofilter (TAB data > filter > auto filter)

Open Amadeus new interface:


Move cursor over the link 'Identification Number'
and select the desired identifier, e.g. ISIN, BvDEP number (Bureau van Dijk), Ticker symbol or SEDOL

Even if ISIN are only a part of a work set it is possible to retrieve them without the need to first copy paste into a .txt file, like with Amadeus old format:

Press button 'View list of results'

Loading Zephyr data into Amadeus * Old format *

When a company overview is desired also, after creating a deal set from Zephyr, it is possible to retrieve these data from Amadeus. Although it demands some steps.

This blog thread describes how it is done in the old Amadeus format.
After exporting the Zephyr search (i.e. a deal list) to a dedicated directory:

1. Open Excel
2. Load the export file

Select all files in the column with CTRL-SHIFT ARROW Down
CRTL-C (copy), open Note Pad, paste CTRL-V and save as a text file.

!! Go to the save directory and change extension into .bvd !!

Start Amadeus (Bureau van Dijk)
Note: the Wharton portal may give problems uploading the file(s)

Select ' Load company file' from the menu at the left hand side of the screen.





Next, Amadeus will show a list of companies it couldn't find (memorize these or write them down, for manual search)



Next result


Finally, click TABS List and Company Reports (a page for every file in the work set):

Making Zephyr work sets readable in Amadeus (Old format)

Databases are not always compatible with each other. Even between databases Zephyr and Amadeus (same publisher) this is the case (particularly old format Amadeus).
This cook book will show a work around.

Open Zephyr and make the following deal selection:






Quoted stocks


Acquiror, Target and Vendor > all Netherlands


Time period: 1/01/2000 - 31/12/2005







Result:


Now press Button List of deals in the top Bar (second left)



Sort the deals by deal value: (clickable link)



Adjust format of the presented data.

With the drop down option in the top it's possible to select on deal type, company roles, stock data etc. The latter is important for selection Identifiers like ISIN and Ticker Symbol.

Export the deal set (top bar button on the right):



In this example we export the 50 largest deals (hence the sort by)



From this point there are two options:
First: uploading into Amadeus Old format (press link)

Second: uploading into Amadeus New Format 2010 (press link)
